Revisit the goals and reset priorities
I feel like I’ve uncovered all of the corruption I can that has a shred of evidence. I’ve cautioned against what’s probably coming next and beyond, highlighting the signposts and clues. I’ve begged for Democrats, citizens and elected alike, to understand and grasp the intensity of knowledge and action these days require. And yet, I feel as though I’m screaming into the void while repeatedly body-slamming a brick wall that wasn’t there two years ago.
All I can do is repeat where we need to head.
If we want any semblance of an election, we need to avoid the insurrection act. If we can do that, we need to recruit multitudes of poll watchers to discourage as much surreptitious cheating as possible.
We have to work to roll back Citizen’s United. We are in battles from several directions. Putin and others, knowing Trump’s physical and mental condition, know they either make their moves now or they may not be able to. They will be flooding campaigns with laundered funding and have probably already started. Our own home-grown oligarchs have the same goals: to continue to drive government actions, regulations, and goals through optimal election wins through outrageous funding amounts.
We need to remove the Electoral College. The people do not control the vote as long as it is in place. It has been proven how many ways it can be manipulated. Return the power of the vote to the people.
We have to stay educated, and educate any we can around us, about the true issues of any elections or Congressional actions. Learn to track and read bills put forward daily. Don’t wait until they are brought to the floor. The battles need to be enjoined in the committees. Keep track of who sponsors what, how votes both in committee and on the floor go.
Fear needs to be replaced by resolve and knowledge, as I’ve said many times before. Fetal positions behind the couch not allowed. That doesn’t mean you have to be on the front lines with airhorns. It does mean seeking out the truth and spreading it. It means standing up for what you know is right, not what some influencer says is right.
Life ain’t going to get easier, and we don’t have to like the direction it’s taking. We do have to understand the direction and do our best to thwart the worst of the tour guides and signposts.
